Project Overview

The Delaware Field House was transformed into a modern, multi-sport indoor training facility through a comprehensive renovation effort led in partnership with AstroTurf USA. Originally used for baseball and track and field training, the facility had deteriorated to the point that it no longer provided a safe or functional environment for athletes.

The interior was completely reconfigured to support the training needs of football, baseball, lacrosse, and track programs. Renovation efforts included correcting the base surface, removing floor irregularities, and eliminating hazardous elements—such as unsafe sand pits—that had previously compromised athlete safety. A new 52-ounce synthetic turf system was installed over the repaired flooring, delivering enhanced durability, performance, and versatility for year-round use.

In addition to athletic upgrades, the project addressed critical accessibility concerns. All egress points were brought up to code, ensuring the facility met ADA compliance standards and significantly improving overall safety.

The result is a dynamic, high-performance training space that now plays a key role in the athletic development and recruitment efforts of the University of Delaware.
