In 2015, West Virginia University (WVU) began planning a major overhaul of Milan Puskar Stadium in preparation for the 2016 football season. A key component of this renovation was the removal of the “Old Crown” at the center of the football field and the modernization of the playing surface to meet updated performance and safety standards for 2016.
The McKinley Sports Team provided design and construction documentation for a comprehensive athletic facility upgrade at Wheeling Jesuit University, which included a new synthetic turf field and resurfacing of the 400-meter NCAA competition track. The project also featured a new entry plaza, stormwater management systems, and surrounding landscape improvements.
In 2008, West Liberty University awarded JTSA Sports the architecture and engineering contract to renovate Russell Stadium. At the time, the Hilltoppers football program was building a strong NCAA Division II presence and sought a field that would both showcase its athletes and reflect the pride of the university.
In 2014, McKinley Sports (formerly JTSA Sports) was selected to lead the design of the artificial turf baseball field system for the new WVU Monongalia County Ballpark in Morgantown, West Virginia. JTSA was responsible for the full scope of field-related design, including dynamic subsurface drainage, stormwater management systems, overall field layout, and the specification of the synthetic turf system.
Allegheny College’s new synthetic athletic field project involves the transformation of an existing natural grass field into a high-performance, multi-sport synthetic turf surface, designed to meet NCAA standards for both field hockey and lacrosse. The project also includes stormwater management design, NPDES permitting, new Musco lighting, a Nevco scoreboard, and an optional press box and grandstand system.
