McKinley Sports (formerly JTSA Sports) provided full design and construction management services for the two-phase development of West Virginia University’s outdoor football practice facility. In 2014, our team led the transition of the practice field from natural grass to synthetic turf, improving durability and year-round usability. Most recently, in 2025, we completed a comprehensive redesign to further enhance functionality and performance.
The facility includes a full-size and half-size football field, a 4,300-square-foot split-level equipment storage building, a sand pit training area, sled wall, dedicated kicking zone, and an elevated observation tower for improved coaching visibility. Four strategically placed cooling stations with misting fans and cooling tubes offer players relief during high-intensity practices.
With zoned training areas, widened out-of-bounds space, and a layout built for efficiency, the WVU outdoor practice facility reflects a long-term partnership between JTSA Sports and WVU Athletics—focused on performance, innovation, and the evolving needs of the program.
