McKinley Sports partnered with AstroTurf on the layout and renovation of the field at Ray Fisher Stadium. Originally a natural grass surface, the stadium underwent a full transformation with the installation of AstroTurf’s Diamond Series artificial turf system—engineered to meet the high-performance demands of collegiate baseball while maintaining the traditional look and feel of a natural field.
This advanced turf system was designed to replicate the playability of both grass and clay, providing athletes with a consistent and reliable surface. The project incorporated specialized fiber technology and carefully calibrated infill ratios that work together to deliver a realistic playing experience. Distinct variations between the “grass” and “clay” zones were intentionally crafted to mimic the natural bounce and ball movement expected from traditional baseball fields.
The result was a high-quality, low-maintenance surface that not only enhances performance but also improves durability throughout the season. This renovation elevated Ray Fisher Stadium into one of NCAA Division I’s premier baseball venues, setting a new standard for synthetic turf installations in collegiate baseball.
