McKinley Sports (formerly JTSA Sports) was selected by Gateway School District to lead the design and documentation of a comprehensive athletic facility upgrade across both Gateway High School and Gateway Middle School campuses.
The multi-site project included improvements to five athletic field areas, featuring the installation of synthetic turf systems, upgraded drainage infrastructure, new LED sports lighting, fencing, and enhanced support facilities.
At Gateway High School, the existing baseball and softball complex was converted to synthetic turf fields while preserving key structural elements such as split-face block dugouts, storage buildings, and restrooms. The baseball field was upgraded with a two-turf system for optimal playability, new fencing with integrated curbs, stormwater drainage, and additional features including bullpens, batting cages, backstops, and a batter’s eye. The softball field received similar upgrades, with a synthetic turf system designed to replicate natural play conditions through a durable infield and a slower outfield system.
Across both campuses, McKinley Sports coordinated with lighting manufacturers to replace existing sports lighting with energy-efficient LED systems. The team also worked closely with the district to implement scoreboard upgrades and optional dugout redesigns prompted by layout adjustments.
