15+ acre athletic complex at the district’s high school campus, with construction taking place between 2020 and 2023. The $9 million project included a full redevelopment of the site to support multiple sports and student-athlete amenities.
The complex features a new football stadium with grandstands and a synthetic turf field, along with new synthetic turf baseball and softball fields. Site design also included a formal complex entrance and various support structures, including a restroom/concessions building, a halftime room with restrooms, a referee area, and a trainer’s room. Additional elements included site layout and permitting for a new fieldhouse, a nature trail, and a cross country viewing platform.
As part of the project, McKinley is also providing full design and construction phase services for a new concession, restroom, and locker room building at Edison Local High School in Richmond, Ohio. The structure—designed using a layout developed in February 2020—will include CMU bearing walls, shallow spread footings, and prefabricated wood trusses. Mechanical systems will serve the winterized locker rooms and restrooms and include a kitchen hood, exhaust, and make-up air system. Deep foundation and site lighting design are excluded, and utility connections will extend five feet beyond the building perimeter.
McKinley is managing the project through all design phases—Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, Bidding, and Construction Administration. Responsibilities include floor plan and elevation development, structural and MEP coordination, code compliance review, preparation of bid documents, and assistance throughout permitting and construction oversight.
