Project Overview

West Liberty University selected McKinley Sports to lead the Architecture and Engineering efforts for the renovation of Russeck Stadium. At the time, the Hilltoppers Football program was gaining momentum and building a strong reputation within NCAA Division II. With aspirations of elevating their athletic profile, the university sought a facility that would reflect their growth, showcase their student-athletes, and enhance the overall game day experience for fans, students, and alumni.

Rather than simply upgrading the playing surface, McKinley Sports approached the project with a broader vision—one that would reshape the identity of Russeck Stadium and its presence on campus. The design concept included improvements to the field itself, as well as a comprehensive transformation of the stadium’s infrastructure, aesthetics, and visibility from key campus vantage points. This included enhanced spectator seating, upgraded team facilities, and architectural features that visually connected the stadium to the rest of the university.
