Project Overview

In the winter of 2016, Waynesburg University experienced a catastrophic flood that severely impacted its football stadium. The flooding caused significant damage as silt and debris swept across the playing surface, which later froze and bonded to the artificial turf—rendering the field unsafe and unusable.

In response to this critical situation, the university enlisted the expertise of McKinley Sports to assess the extent of the damage, determine insurance valuations, and guide the recovery process. McKinley Sports conducted a thorough evaluation and played a key role in designing and managing the restoration of the facility.

The result was a comprehensive field upgrade completed in 2017. In addition to addressing the immediate flood damage, the project resolved longstanding drainage issues that had plagued the site. The redesigned field also introduced a bold, modern aesthetic that significantly enhanced the visual appeal of the stadium.

The grand reopening of the stadium marked not just the return of athletic activity, but a symbolic moment of renewal and progress for the university’s athletic program. The upgraded facility now stands as a testament to resilience, thoughtful design, and the successful collaboration between Waynesburg University and McKinley Sports.
